Shampoo Bars and Organza Bag

Shampoo Bars and Organza Bag

There are several reasons to use shampoo bars vs. liquid shampoo. One is the majority of liquid shampoo is water. Second, there is no bottle to throw away.  Third, these are perfect to travel with as there is no need to worry about liquid volumes.  And lastly, I sell my shampoo bars in an organza bag.  I recommend you keep the bar in the organza bag when shampooing and then hand up the bag when done. This allows the bar to dry and last longer.  In addition, the bar can get very tiny and you can still use every last bit because it is in the bag - no waste!

Each bar weight approximately 2.5 oz.

  • About the ingredients

    Shampoo Bar

Some people make shampoo bars the same way they make soap, with oils, butters and lye.  Our hair is not the same pH as our skin.  We should not use soap made with lye for our hair which is why I make a Syndet Bar that is much better for your hair.  Here are the ingredients.

    • SCI (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate) -A very gentle anionic surfactant that makes up the bulk of the bar.  It creates a luxurious foam without stripping hair of oils and is made from coconut oil.
    • Cetearyl Alcohol – A fatty alcohol that adds emulsifying agent to make your hair feel smoother with less frizz. When you see the word “alcohol” you may immediately think drying.  That is not always the case as the word alcohol simply refers to a chemical structure of a specific structure
    • Stearic Acid – provides emollience and gives the bars firmness and structure and found in palm oil.
    • BTMS 25 – a natural, conditioning emulsifier that is naturally derived from Colza oil.
    • Cocamidopropyl Betaine – gentle, amphoteric surfactant made from coconut oil.
    • Decyl Glucoside – a plant-derived, gentile nonionic, glucose-based surfactant often used for individuals with sensitive skin.
    • Coconut Oil is a good oil to use for absorbing into the hair shaft rather than just coating it.
    • Castor Oil- can help absorb dirt but also is an emollient, helping your hair feel less dry.
    • Sodium Lactate – produced by the fermentation of a sugar source, this salt hardens the bars so they last longer.
    • Hydrolyzed Rice Protein – is a natural alternative to traditional volumizing agents and helps improve hair shine and manageability.
    • Bamboo Leaf Extract – made from the fibrous parts of certain bamboo species. It is used for its nourishing properties and can help make hair stronger and shinier and help reduce breakage.
    • Panthenol – Hydrates and strengthens hair and helps retain moisture in hair. It is derived from pantothenic acid, a component of the B complex vitamins.
    • Optiphen Plus- a paraben-free and formaldehyde-free broad spectrum preservative necessary for products in contact with water.

Use the bar in an organza bag to help use every, last bit of the bar.  Keep the bar dry between uses.

  • How to use a shampoo bar

I recommend keeping the bar in the organza bag and rubbing the bar in bag bag and forth across your hair to get a nice lather. Then work the lather into your hair to your scalp.  Rinse.  Hang up the bag to aid in drying between use.
